Thiruvananthapuram: Justice Ashish J Desai was sworn in as the new Chief Justice of Kerala High Court on Saturday. He succeeds Justice S V Bhatti who was recently elevated to the post of Supreme Court judge.
Desai was serving as the acting Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court.In a brief ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, Governor Arif Mohammed Khan administered the oath of office to Desai.Besides Khan, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Law Minister P Rajeeve, Chief Secretary V Venu and senior IAS and IPS officers were also present during the function.
Three judges were on Wednesday elevated as high court chief justices. Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal tweeted that Justice Alok Aradhe of the Karnataka High Court has been elevated as chief justice of the Telangana High Court. Similarly, Justice Subhasis Talapatra of the Orissa High Court has been made the chief justice in the same High Court with effect from September 8 after the incumbent chief justice demits office. Justuce Sunita Agarwal of the Allahabad High Court has been appointed as chief justice of the Gujarat High Court
