Thiruvananthapuram: Another boat accident took place at Muthalapozhi. A fishing boat carrying seven fishermen met with the accident at the danger zone at Muthalapozhi.
Luckily all the seven persons were rescued but one of the individuals sustained serious injuries and is now treated at the Medical College.
Frequent boat accidents at the site have led to the deaths of many fishermen in the area. The reason for these accidents is the sand deposits at Muthalapozhi.
The people of the locality have turned against the government for its delay in holding talks with Adani Group to remove the sand deposits and make the area safe for the fishermen’s boats to ply through.
An earlier meeting with Adani Group was postponed due to the inconvenience from the part of the government. The fear of the people living in the area is that as long as the delay continues, the number of accidents is also bound to go up.
Yesterday, the at the CPI(M) State Secretariat meeting, it was decided to hold talks with Adani Group on Monday.
