COCHIN: In a rescue operation, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) sprung into action to save the lives of 8 fishermen aboard the fishing boat “Mariam” when it encountered a perilous situation, 21 nautical miles away from Kochi.
Responding swiftly to the distress call, the ICG deployed their vessel, Arnvesh, along with the ICG Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) to carry out the rescue mission. The fishing boat, “Mariam,” had encountered an accident, and the situation was critical as it was on the verge of sinking due to water ingress.
With the expertise and efficiency of the ICG team, the sinking boat was stabilized by pumping out the water that had entered the vessel. The boat was skillfully drained of water, enabling it to stay afloat and be operational once again.
Ensuring the safety of the fishermen was their top priority, and after confirming that all the fishermen were out of harm’s way, the Coast Guard diligently sent them back to their now stable fishing boat.
The prompt and effective response by the Indian Coast Guard averted a potential disaster, and the rescued fishermen expressed their gratitude for the ICG’s lifesaving efforts.
