Posthumous MBBS to Vandana; tearful parents receive the honour on her behalf

Thrissur: Kerala University of Health Sciences awarded MBBS degree to Dr. Vandana Das posthumously. She was stabbed to death by an assailant during her duty at the Kottarakara Taluk hospital earlier this year.

Vandana’s father K.G Mohandas and mother Vansanthakumari received the certificate on her behalf at the convocation ceremony held in Trissur. They received this from the Chancellor, Kerala Govenor Arif Mohammed Khan, with tearful eyes. The Governor was seen consoling the mother who broke down on stage.

On May 10, Sandeep stabbed the house surgeon Dr Vandana (23) at the Kottarakara taluk hospital. The attack was occurred when the accused was taken to the hospital for medical examination and was getting is dressing done. Vandana was the only child of her parents.

Meanwhile, the Crime Branch submitted the chargesheet against Sandeep, a school teacher, for stabbing to death Dr Vandana.The chargesheet was filed at Judicial First Class Magistrate- I court. As per the chargesheet, Sandeep deliberately tried to kill Dr Vandana and stabbed her 11 times.
