Idukki: The forest fires that engulfed in Idukki Vattavada region has become a major threat to nearby Pambadumpara National Park, as authorities fail to put out the spreading fire.Acres of forest land have been destroyed in the fires. Fire has been gutted around 200 hectares of plantation and grass land.The fire broke out at Koviloor area and extended to Oorkkad region last night. Ecosystem and biodiversity of the area has been badly affected.
It is alleged that forest department failed to take proper measures to put out the fire from the first day itself.On the other hand, the forest officials explain that the fire was first seen in a private property and not in the limits of the department. Attempts to put out fire is underway.
