Palakkad: A daring daylight robbery unfolded in Vadakancheri as seven gold sovereigns and ₹67,000 were brazenly stolen. The victim of this audacious crime is Lilly Manoj, an autorickshaw driver residing in the locality of Chuvattupadam. This incident marks the ninth instance of theft within Vadakancherry over the past three months.
The thief executed their entry by forcefully breaking through the back door of Lilly Manoj’s residence, employing a sizable stone to facilitate access. Swiftly manipulating a plank, the intruder proceeded to pilfer seven pavans of gold and a sum of ₹67,000 concealed within a cupboard.
The pilfered cupboard was forced open utilizing a kitchen knife, a detail indicative of the meticulous planning undertaken by the perpetrator. Law enforcement swiftly responded to the scene, with Vadakancherry police initiating a thorough investigation into the incident. Notably, among the eight previous thefts, the police managed to apprehend a suspect in only one case.
