Thiruvananthapuram: In an inspiring and candid interaction with students at Thiruvananthapuram, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar emphasised the importance of allowing young individuals to follow their dreams and aspirations rather than imposing parental expectations upon them. The occasion was a gathering of quiz competition winners as part of the celebrations for the 100th episode of Nehru Yuva Kendra Mann Ki Baath.
Vice President Dhankar conveyed that advantages and opportunities exist in all walks of life, not just in arts and sports. He urged parents and society at large to recognise and support these diverse talents. Dhankar expressed his concern that many students are pressured into choosing conventional career paths, such as medicine, engineering, and civil services, despite their personal interests lying elsewhere. He firmly stated his disagreement with this practise, highlighting the importance of nurturing each individual’s unique potential.
During his interaction, Vice President Dhankar also addressed the pressing issue of drug abuse, describing it as a challenge to humanity. He highlighted the devastating impact of drug use on individuals’ lives and emphasised the government’s unwavering commitment to combating this menace with stringent measures.
The students, who had excelled in quiz competitions, had the privilege of visiting the Vice President’s official residence, accompanied by Union Minister of State for External Affairs, V Muraleedharan. The delegation, consisted of 17 students, teachers, and parents, comprising a 37-member team. They are set to embark on an educational journey, visiting significant historical sites in and around Delhi.
