Ernakulam: A company operating in Kakkanad, Ernakulam finds itself facing serious allegations of orchestrating a multi-crore job scam under the pretext of offering lucrative overseas employment opportunities. The Infopark police swiftly took action and initiated a case against the establishment’s owners in response to a formal complaint lodged against them.
The fraudulent scheme revolved around purported job openings for warehouse assistant positions in Poland. Leveraging the reach of social media, the company advertised these positions, successfully luring in unsuspecting candidates. Disturbingly, each applicant was coerced into parting with a substantial sum of ₹3 lakhs as a prerequisite for securing the promised job.
As the process unfolded, the company ostensibly encountered delays in completing the necessary formalities even after the candidates had submitted the requested payment. Naturally, this prompted concerns among the job seekers. When they sought clarification about the delay and the nature of the work awaiting them, they were met with vague responses, citing pending procedural steps.
The aggrieved candidates, faced with mounting doubts and frustrations, united to voice their concerns. Their collective efforts culminated in a formal complaint. Shockingly, the situation escalated when it became apparent that the company had abruptly shut down its operations and the owners had vanished into thin air, leaving behind a trail of deception and disappointment.
A staggering number of more than 50 individuals fell victim to this elaborate ruse, where promises of overseas employment turned out to be nothing more than an elaborate scam.
