Ernakulam: The Kerala High Court has decided to remove the amicus curiae, Advocate Ranjith Marar, who was appointed to assist in the actress assault case. The decision to remove Marar was prompted by a plea submitted by the survivor involved in the case. This decision was influenced by revelations made by the prosecution regarding Marar’s alleged close association with Dileep, a central figure in the case.
The prosecution presented evidence to the court, including documents detailing financial transactions between Ranjith Marar and Dileep. This evidence raised concerns about Marar’s potential bias or compromised position, leading the court to opt for his removal from the case as amicus curiae.
Simultaneously, Ranjith Marar himself wrote a letter expressing his willingness to step down from his role amidst the escalating allegations. The survivor had previously approached the court and initiated legal action seeking an investigation into the unauthorised disclosure of data from the memory card. In response, Dileep filed a counter-petition, which was subsequently dismissed by the court, leading to an adjournment for judgment. In light of these developments, the High Court has announced its intention to appoint a new amicus curiae to the case.
