Salary should be ensured; The High Court will hear the plea of KSRTC employees again today

Ernakulam: The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) employees’ plea for a salary guarantee will once again be under consideration today by the High Court. As the legal proceedings unfold, KSRTC management is set to update the court that the salaries for the month of July have been successfully disbursed.

In a recent development, the KSRTC management has assured the court and its employees that the eagerly awaited Onam allowance and advance will be distributed  today. The corporation’s efforts to address the financial concerns of its workforce come on the heels of a previous court hearing during which the government informed the court that the necessary funds were allocated for pension distribution, which subsequently commenced just yesterday at midnight.

Following a period of anticipation, the distribution of salaries for KSRTC employees has finally commenced, providing much-needed relief. The salaries for the previous month, July, were deposited into employees’ accounts late last night. However, the distribution of the Onam allowance and advance has yet to be initiated, causing some employees to wait a little longer for the full disbursement.

Management officials have clarified that an advance payment amounting Rs 7500 and an allowance of Rs 2750 will be accorded to employees once the distribution process begins. It’s noteworthy that the government allocated a substantial sum of Rs 70 crore to facilitate the distribution of salaries through KSRTC. However, this distribution does not encompass the Onam allowance and advance, which are expected to be disbursed in the coming days as part of the ongoing efforts to address employees’ financial needs.

Temporary employees, who form an integral part of the workforce, will also receive an allowance of Rs. 1000. This gesture underscores the management’s commitment to recognising the contributions of all its staff members, whether permanent or temporary.
