Ernakulam: At Kochi airport, two individuals have been apprehended while in possession of gold valued at ₹2 crore. The confiscated gold was discovered on two passengers who had recently arrived from Kuwait. The arrested individuals were identified as Anandavalli, hailing from Kollam, and Safir, originating from Kozhikode. The vigilant customs officials uncovered the concealed gold during their inspection.
A total of 1,706 grams of gold were confiscated from Anandavalli, while Safir was found in possession of 1,089 grams. The gold had been ingeniously concealed as capsules. The total estimated worth of the seized gold amounts to ₹1.40 crore.
Notably, a similar incident occurred on August 24th at Kannur airport, where customs authorities seized over 1 kg of gold. The gold had been confiscated from Shafiq, a resident of Kasaragod.
