Thrissur: Amidst the festive celebrations of Thiruvonam, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organised a hunger strike in Karuvannur, expressing their dissent against the alleged corruption by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)]. The demonstration took place in front of the Karuvannur bank head office, where BJP members and associates gathered to raise their voices against what they perceive as a misuse of funds.
The hunger strike, organized under the leadership of the BJP Iringalakuda Constituent Committee, was inaugurated by BJP Palakkad Regional Vice President Bijoy Thomas. He passionately addressed the attendees, asserting that the ongoing CPI(M) corruption, amounting to 300 crores, has adversely impacted the local populace and disrupted their Onam celebrations.
Thomas, in his speech, called for the resignation of A.C. Moideen and advocated for a thorough investigation into the election funds received from Iringalakuda MLA and Minister R. Bindu, originating from Karuvannur.
Kripesh Chemmanda, the BJP Constituency President, presided over the hunger strike, demonstrating the party’s unified front in their protest against alleged financial improprieties. The gathering witnessed the presence of several prominent BJP leaders, including Constituency General Secretaries Shaiju Kuttikat and Ratheesh Kurumath, State Committee Member Santosh Cherakulam, and State Council Member KC Venu Master, among others.
