Thiruvananthapuram: The Poovachal Adavachapara Ayiravalli Thampuran temple in Thiruvananthapuram was attacked by miscreants. A devotee who visited the temple yesterday evening discovered it in a state of destruction and promptly informed the local police. The authorities at the Kattakkada police station have initiated an investigation into the incident.
Devotees who reached the temple found the sacred idols shattered. The main deity of the temple was found in a battered condition. The individuals responsible for the act of vandalism targeted not only the main deity, including the Shiva Lingam and the Naga idol, but also the Panchapandava idols, the sanctum sanctorum, and the stone lamp within the temple premises.
Six months ago, all the valuable items used for the puja in the temple were stolen. Despite lodging a complaint with the Kattakkada police, no subsequent investigative actions have been undertaken by the authorities. The nearby temples like Mulayamkot Chamundi Devi Temple and Padiannoor Temple were also reported to have been robbed. Unfortunately, the police have not yet succeeded in identifying the culprits responsible for these acts of vandalism against the temples.
