KOZHIKODE: It is reported that six individuals from Nadakkavu have been admitted to a private hospital in the Kozhikode district for treatment following their illness due to food poisoning. The discomfort they experienced is believed to be linked to their consumption of fried chicken and mayonnaise from an eatery in Koduvally. The reported symptoms include vomiting and diarrhea.
A group of ten people dined together at the restaurant, sharing a meal that included fried chicken and mayonnaise. Among them, the six individuals who consumed the mayonnaise reported adverse health effects. The remaining four individuals who refrained from consuming the mayonnaise did not encounter any health issues.
Approximately a week ago, the same eatery underwent an inspection by the Food Safety Department in response to a complaint about the sale of stale food. Subsequently, a penalty of Rs 10,000 was levied, and stale food items were confiscated.
This incident has raised questions about the effectiveness of food quality inspections in the Kerala state. Locals have alleged that the lack of rigorous inspections by authorized departments is contributing to the frequent occurrence of such incidents.
