Kozhikode: Union Minister of State for Agriculture, Shobha Karandlaje, has expressed criticism of the Kerala state government, citing unnecessary criticism and accusations against the Central government regarding the concerns of rice cultivators. Minister Karandlaje emphasised that the central government treats all states equally and allocates funds for various agricultural development schemes in Kerala.
The Union Minister highlighted the issue of project reporting, indicating that Kerala has not provided the necessary project reports to the Centre regarding the utilisation of allocated funds and the benefits accrued to farmers. This lack of transparency, according to Minister Karandlaje, is contributing to the grievances of farmers within the state.
Addressing the Kerala government, the Union Minister remarked that any discontent among the farmers should be attributed to their administration’s actions rather than external factors. She further called into question the understanding of the Agriculture Department within the Kerala government.
Minister Shobha Karandlaje expressed her readiness to engage in discussions with the Kerala government after a thorough examination of the situation. However, she criticised Kerala for not being adequately prepared to engage in meaningful dialogue on the matter.
