Film and serial actor Sarath Das has taken to social media to voice his strong criticism of Udayanidhi Stalin, a prominent leader in the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and a minister in the Tamil Nadu government. Sarath Das’s comments come in response to Udayanidhi Stalin’s recent statement, in which he expressed his views on Sanatana Dharma.
In a Facebook post, Sarath Das articulated his disagreement with Udayanidhi Stalin’s assertion that Sanatana Dharma should be eradicated. He questioned the statement by highlighting the significance of Tamil Nadu’s official symbol, the Srivilliputhur Temple, and its deep-rooted connection to Sanatana Dharma.
Sarath Das raised the question of whether the lines from the book, Mundaka Upanishad, which hold great spiritual and cultural significance, are not an integral part of Sanatana Dharma. The actor’s remarks suggest his belief in the enduring presence and importance of Sanatana Dharma in the cultural fabric of Tamil Nadu.
Furthermore, Sarath das emphasised that while anyone has the right and freedom to express their opposition or dissent towards any political party, Udayanidhi Stalin’s statement may have crossed a line. He pointed out the Srivilliputhur Temple, a symbol he deeply loves and respects, as an embodiment of Tamil Nadu’s cultural heritage and its connection to Sanatana Dharma.
In his Facebook post, Sarath Das conveyed his strong protest against the comments made by Udayanidhi Stalin. He shared a news clip containing Udayanidhi Stalin’s statement and the official symbol of Tamil Nadu, the Srivilliputhur Temple, to underscore his message.
