Kollam : A suspect has been taken into police custody for a theft at the Kulathupuzha Sreedharma Shasta Temple. The individual, identified as Baiju, a resident of Kakanikkara, Thiruvananthapuram, was taken into custody in connection with the incident.

In broad daylight, sometime around noon yesterday, Baiju broke open the donation box at the Kulathupuzha Sri Dharmashasta Temple and made off with the cash contained within. In an attempt to evade capture, he also broke the CCTV camera installed there. However, with the help of surveillance footage from nearby cameras, the police was able to track the route taken by the accused and arrest him within hours of the theft. Baiju had already spent some of the stolen money, but police successfully recovered the remaining amount from him.

Baiju was brought to the temple and the evidence was collected. The accused was produced before the Punalur court and remanded.
