Chennai: A minivan rammed into a stopped truck, causing a significant accident. Six people, including a one-year-old girl, died, and two were seriously injured in the incident. The accident occurred in the Sankari region on the Salem-Erode highway in Tamil Nadu. The deceased are natives of Kittampalayam, near Peruthurai in Erode district. Those who lost their lives include Selvaraj (50), Aramukham (48), Aramugam’s wife Manjula (45), Palaniswami (45), Palaniswami’s wife Papapathy (40), and Sanjana (1).

The incident happened around 4 a.m. yesterday when a speeding minivan crashed into the back of a stopped truck. Van driver Vignesh (25) and Priya (21), the daughter of the deceased Palaniswami and Papapathy, were seriously injured and shifted to the hospital. The one-year-old Sanjana, who tragically died, is Priya’s daughter. Vignesh is the son of the deceased Aramugam. There were eight people in the van who were travelling from Nagpur to Perundurai. The CCTV footage of the accident has been released.

The van was completely destroyed in the accident. The preliminary conclusion is that the overspeeding of the van was the cause of the accident, and the impact of the accident increased as the minivan crashed into the lorry.
