Eligible citizens who wish to be included in the voter list or make corrections to their existing information have the opportunity to do so between September 8 and 23, 2023.
To apply for voter registration, interested individuals can visit the official website of the State Election Commission at https://www.sec.kerala.gov.in/. It’s worth noting that those who will be 18 on or before January 1 are eligible to register.
In addition to new registrations, individuals can also apply to correct any inaccuracies in their existing voter information. Furthermore, citizens who wish to have their names removed from the voter list can do so by registering online and submitting the printout directly or by post to the Election Officer.
To maintain accessibility, a draft voter list will be published in various locations, including the concerned local bodies, village offices, Taluk offices, and the official website.
In an effort to make the registration process more convenient, applications can also be submitted through Akshaya centres and authorised Janasevana Kendra offices, providing multiple avenues for citizens to participate in this democratic exercise.
The updated voter list, reflecting necessary amendments and corrections, will play a pivotal role in local by-elections and the highly anticipated 2025 elections. With 19,489 wards, encompassing 15,962 wards of 941 grama panchayats, 3,113 wards of 87 municipalities, and 414 wards of six corporations, this extensive endeavour aims to ensure that every eligible citizen’s right to vote is protected and upheld.
