Thiruvananthapuram: The police have registered a case against a husband and his family following a complaint of mental harassment and dowry demands made against them. The case was filed on the complaint of Aishwarya, a resident of Marthandam, Tamil Nadu, who alleged that she and her family had been subjected to torment for dowry-related issues.
The individuals named in the case include Aishwarya’s husband, Roni, and his parents. Roni and Aishwarya entered into matrimony last year, with the marriage taking place under the belief that Roni had successfully appeared in the civil service examination and was listed as a sub-inspector candidate.
However, as per Aishwarya’s complaint, the situation took a troubling turn as dowry demands emerged. Reportedly, apart from 175 sovereign gold and a substantial dowry of 45 lakh rupees that had already been given, Roni and his family allegedly demanded an additional transfer of two acres of land, owned by Aishwarya’s parents, into Roni’s name.
Subsequently, Roni initiated legal proceedings in the family court to terminate the marriage and forcibly ejected Aishwarya from their residence. Faced with this situation, Aishwarya approach the police with her complaint. Based on Aishwarya’s formal complaint, the police have taken swift action by registering a case against Roni and his parents.
