Thiruvananthapuram: In response to a disconcerting incident involving candidates receiving counterfeit letters instructing them to appear for the PSC (Public Service Commission) certificate examination, State Police Chief Dr. Sheikh Darvesh Sahib has issued a directive to form a special investigative team.
The incident came to light when several candidates received official-looking letters on the letterhead of the PSC, requesting them to submit certificates for an examination. However, upon arriving at the examination venue with the purported letter and certificates, they discovered that the correspondence was fraudulent. The letters were issued in the name of a vacant position for a Vigilance Assistant Secretary.
In response to this unsettling discovery, a formal case was registered at the Thiruvananthapuram City Medical College Police Station. Subsequently, a specialised investigative team was constituted to probe this fraudulent scheme.
Heading the investigative team is Thiruvananthapuram City Crime and Administration Deputy Commissioner BG George. The operation will be conducted under the direct supervision of Thiruvananthapuram City Police Commissioner C. Nagaraju. Cyber City Assistant Commissioner DK Prithviraj has been designated as the lead investigating officer.
The team comprises several key members with expertise in criminal investigations, including Adoor DYSP R .Jayaraj, Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Police Station House Officer P Harilal, Thrissur West Police Station House Officer T.P. Farshad, and Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Police Sub-Inspector PL Vishnu.
