Thiruvananthapuram: Authorities predict that rain and thunder showers are likely to occur in different parts of the state in the coming days. Heavy to very heavy rains may cause floods and land slides. Weather forecast department has informed that yellow alert has been declared in Pathanamthitta and Wayanad.
Pathanamthitta,Kollam,Kottayam,Idukki,Wayanad,Kozhikkode,Malappuram and Kannur districts have chances of landslides and authorities warn people to avoid travelling to hilly areas during nights. Water levels may rise in rivers and kids should not be allowed to play in water, the department warns.
Thunder and lightening may occur from 2 pm to 8 pm during summer rains. People are requested not to be in open areas during these hours.
