Actor Bheeman Raghu had the audience in laugh at the State Film Awards 2022. A video capturing the moment when he stood up in the audience while Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was delivering a speech on stage has gone viral on social media. The actor remained in his seat until Pinarayi Vijayan had finished his speech.
The video also captured other artists in the audience laughing along with Bheeman Raghu’s antics. Despite the audience finding it amusing, the actor listened attentively to the entire Chief Minister’s speech and then applauded solemnly while standing up. When asked by the media about his actions, the actor explained that he stood up as a sign of respect for the Chief Minister, likening him to his own father.
“I hold great respect for Pinarayi Vijayan. Whenever he attends an event, I will stand, whether in the front row or back, because my respect for him is unwavering. He is a remarkable father, an exceptional chief minister, and a dedicated family man. I am reminded of my own father when I see him. Sometimes, I feel that he closely resembles my father. I want to clarify that my standing up has nothing to do with politics; it’s purely out of respect. Personally, I admire him,” clarified Bheeman Raghu.
His background as a former BJP candidate, coupled with his prior criticism of the party, set the stage for his dramatic departure from the BJP two months ago, when he decided to join the CPM. However, as with many public figures who switch political allegiances, Bheeman Raghu’s actions have led to questions about his motivations. Some people have raised concerns that his actions may be perceived as opportunistic, suggesting that he changed sides for personal gain or to align himself with the prevailing political winds.
