Palakkad: In a tragic turn of events, the lifeless body of an unidentified individual who had leaped into the depths of the Malampuzha Dam has been discovered. The grim discovery was made after a search operation that included efforts by the fire brigade and local fishermen.
The incident unfolded yesterday evening when an unknown person ventured to the Malampuzha Dam to enjoy its picturesque surroundings. Tragically, the serene evening took a sombre turn when the individual, for reasons yet unknown, jumped from the shutter side of the dam at approximately 6 p.m.
Immediate efforts were initiated to locate and rescue the person in distress. Firefighters tirelessly combed the waters, navigating the deepest sections of the dam, in a desperate bid to locate the individual.
As night fell, authorities decided to temporarily halt the search with the hope of resuming their efforts in daylight. This morning, as the sun cast its first rays over the tranquil waters of the dam, the lifeless body of an unidentified individual was discovered.
Additional items, including a bag and personal accessories believed to belong to the deceased, were also recovered along the shore. The body is set to be transported to the district hospital mortuary.
