KASARGOD: A Stone Age monument, estimated to be over 1090 years old, has been discovered in Kasaragod. The Redstone cave was found in Chullikkara Bellur-Thoongal Panchayat in the Kasaragod district while excavating for banana cultivation in A. Krishnan’s field.
The findings suggest that the tunnel belongs to the Stone Age period and features a section with steps and a two-tiered carved entrance. Additionally, there is an upper entrance that can be sealed off, allowing access to the cave.
This discovery highlights the historical significance of the area, with similar monuments found in various parts of Kasaragod district. Recognizing the importance of preserving this historical treasure, the landowner has pledged to safeguard the cave.
