Thrissur: Sreenath Namboothiri of Theke Vavanoor Potakuzhi Mana in Palakkad is elected as the new ‘Melsanthi’ or chief priest of the Guruvayoor temple. His tenure will be for six months starting October 1st. In total, forty five persons took part in the selection process for being the Melsanthi.
A lot was drawn from the names of the forty selected candidates in the presence of the temple Tantri, PC Dinesh Namboothiri. The names of the forty selected candidates were put in a silver pot and then the current Melsanthi, Thottam Shivakaran Namboothiri drew the lot at the Namaskara Mandapam.
The selected person will be handed over the symbolic key of the Guruvaryoor temple.
