Kasaragod: With the Nipah virus outbreak continuing to grip parts of Kerala, authorities have stepped up measures to prevent its spread across district borders. Stringent vehicle checks have been implemented at border checkposts, particularly targeting vehicles coming from three high-risk districts: Kozhikode, Malappuram, and Wayanad.
The Talappadi check post on the Kasaragod border is now a key focal point for inspecting vehicles from these Nipah-affected districts. This move comes in response to the rising number of Nipah patients and individuals listed as high-risk in these areas.
Earlier, heightened security measures were also implemented at the border with Tamil Nadu, reflecting the seriousness with which authorities are treating the Nipah outbreak and their determination to contain it.
In a relatively reassuring development, the fear of Nipah in Kozhikode has subsided somewhat following the negative test results of individuals on the high-risk potential list. However, concerns remain as the results for 39 more individuals are pending.
