Palakkad: A resident of Kollangode, Palakkad faced a distressing situation when she received threats along with her morphed obscene pictures sent to her daughter’s phone. The threats were made in an attempt to force her into repaying a purported loan. However, the housewife firmly asserted that even though she had explored online loan options during the COVID-19 pandemic but had not actually obtained any loan.
The housewife had initially provided her information including Aadhaar to the relevant number when inquiring about online loans. Following this, she began receiving phone calls requesting her WhatsApp number. In response, she provided her daughter’s phone number. Consequently, numerous phone calls followed, along with the morphed explicit images of the housewife, all in an attempt to extort repayment of a loan exceeding Rs 13,000. The housewife has since filed a complaint to the Palakkad Cyber Police, against the number that sent her the images.
