Thiruvananthapuram: An old order, issued in 2018, which prohibits government employees from bringing children to their offices, has gone viral on social media platforms. The renewed interest in this directive comes in the wake of a widely circulated image of Thiruvananthapuram Mayor Arya Rajendran, who was seen working while holding her child in her office. The image drew considerable attention and led to discussions on the appropriateness of bringing children to the workplace.

The previous directive stated that government workers were discouraged from bringing their children to the workplace due to concerns about time efficiency. This order, originating from 2018 and influenced by the Human Rights Commission’s guidance, argued that bringing children to the office could lead to a detriment in their personal development and potential misuse of office equipment.

Moreover, the order mentioned that disciplinary action would be taken against employees who violated this directive, emphasizing the importance of adhering to workplace rules and decorum.
