Thiruvananthapuram: In a remarkable surge of air travel activity, Thiruvananthapuram International Airport has experienced a substantial increase in passenger numbers over the past month. August 2023 saw a record-breaking 26 percent hike in passenger traffic compared to the same period last year, with an astonishing 3.73 lakh travellers passing through its gates.

This surge signifies a notable upswing from last year, which recorded 2.95 lakh passengers during the same month. The airport has now become a bustling hub, with over 12,000 passengers taking flights daily and more than 80 flights departing and arriving daily.

In the month of August 2023, a total of 2,416 flights were operated, catering to the rising demand for air travel. Out of these, 1.97 lakh passengers travelled to various cities across India, while 1.75 lakh embarked on international journeys. The airport currently offers an impressive 126 weekly services to foreign destinations and 154 weekly services connecting Indian cities.

With such a remarkable increase in passenger numbers, the authorities at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport are diligently working on expanding and enhancing their facilities to accommodate the growing demand. These plans are in line with the airport’s commitment to providing a seamless and comfortable experience for travellers.
