Kochi: In a heartwarming gesture to accommodate football enthusiasts and fans during the Indian Super League (ISL) season, the Kochi Metro has stepped up its services, offering a helping hand to passengers and fans alike. The metro service will now run until 11:30 PM on ISL match days, allowing fans to travel comfortably to and from the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Metro Station. Moreover, passengers who travel from 10 p.m. onwards will get their ticket prices at a 50% discount on match days.
The decision to extend Kochi Metro’s operational hours was warmly welcomed by ISL fans, who turned to the metro station after the Kerala Blasters faced off in a recent ISL match. The number of travellers was astounding, with 117,565 people utilising the metro until 10 p.m. on the memorable match day.
To ensure the smooth flow of passengers and to handle the surge in demand, Kochi Metro has gone the extra mile by preparing an additional 30 services. Special systems and crowd management measures have been put in place at metro stations to control congestion, ensuring the safety and comfort of all passengers.
Kochi Metro’s pay and park facility has also proven to be a valuable asset for commuters, offering convenience and ease of access for those using their own vehicles in conjunction with metro travel.
