KOCHI: On Sunday, September 24, the renowned filmmaker KG George passed away at an old-age home in Kakkanad, Kochi. His death has left the Malayalam film industry in mourning.
KG George, aged 78, had been battling health issues for the last five years, stemming from a stroke that significantly affected his life. Today, his mortal remains will be kept for public homage at Ernakulam Town Hall, with his funeral, in accordance with his wishes, scheduled at Ravipuram Crematorium in Ernakulam at 4:30 PM.
Meanwhile, several discussions have taken place on social media regarding his last days. Allegations were made that KG George was not properly taken care of by his family during his final days, resulting in his stay at an old-age home. In response to these allegations, KG George’s wife, Selma George, addressed the media upon her arrival in Kochi for the funeral.
Selma stated that she had been residing in Goa with their son, as their daughter lives in Doha. She explained that there were no available flights for them to reach Kochi yesterday, leading to their delay in arriving. Selma affirmed that she and their children take good care of KG George and not as some are falsely spreading about the family. We arranged for healthcare at the center named ‘Signature’ for him. He was content there, with all the necessary medical facilities.
Selma further explained that due to their son and daughter’s jobs being located outside of Kochi, they had to be in Goa and Doha. Simultaneously, KG George was suffering from paralysis, prompting the family to arrange accommodation at an old-age home equipped with medical facilities. She clarified that her stay with her son in Goa was not for tour but due to her own health issues and the lack of family support in Kochi, contrary to the misleading information being circulated on social media. Selma said that in Goa, she was taken care of by her son.
