The National Eligibility Test (NET) exam conducted by the University Grants Commission (UGC) is set to take place from December 6 to 22, and aspiring candidates have until October 28 to apply online for the examination. The UGC NET serves as a qualifying test for individuals aiming to secure the position of Assistant Professor in Humanities.
Aspiring candidates are reminded that the application fee for the UGC NET exam is Rs 1150, while those from backward categories will incur a fee of Rs 600. The exam covers 83 subjects across various fields, and candidates are advised to apply for only one subject.
Eligibility criteria include a post-graduation degree with 55% marks, with a relaxed requirement of 50% for candidates from backward, scheduled, differently-abled, and transgender categories. Even final-year students are eligible to apply.
In terms of age limits, candidates aspiring for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) should not exceed 30 years. There is a 5-year relaxation for candidates from backward, scheduled, differently-abled, and transgender categories.
The examination consists of two papers. Paper 1 carries 100 marks, while Paper 2 carries 200 marks. All districts serve as examination centres for the UGC NET.
