THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: PK Ramachandran Nair, a renowned scientist in agroforestry, has been selected for the Kerala Sasthra Puraskaram 2022, an award instituted by the State government to honor scientists of Kerala origin.
The Kerala government, in collaboration with the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology, and Environment (KSCSTE), presents this award to recognize outstanding scientists.
Dr. Ramachandran Nair currently holds the position of Distinguished Professor Emeritus in Agroforestry and International Forestry at the University of Florida in the United States.
Dr. Ramachandran Nair was chosen for this prestigious award in recognition of his remarkable scientific contributions, particularly in the field of agroforestry. The award includes a cash prize of ₹2 lakh, a citation, and a plaque.
The awardees are selected by a panel composed of eminent scientists representing leading science and technology institutions and academies.
In the previous year’s, the Kerala government had honored agricultural scientist M.S. Swaminathan and theoretical physicist Thanu Padmanabhan.
