Kottyam: In an effort to enhance the overall experience of the Sabarimala pilgrimage, authorities have announced significant measures aimed at improving facilities and arrangements. A recent meeting, presided over by Collector V Vigneshwari, saw the decision to collect parking fees at Erumeli.
Accompanying this decision is the introduction of a toilet usage fee, with the goal of maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the pilgrimage areas.
A notable step towards waste management has also been initiated. Companies involved in waste collection through auctions have been instructed to segregate the waste efficiently. Failure to comply with these conditions will result in strict action against the violators. The Devaswom Board has been urgently tasked with cleaning the septic tanks of toilets in Erumeli to ensure optimal sanitation.
Furthermore, the police will take measures to verify that individuals employed in shops and other establishments remain uninvolved in any legal cases. The police will issue identity cards to those individuals who are employed in shops.
In a bid to bolster security, more surveillance cameras and observation towers will be strategically installed. These measures are expected to contribute to a safer environment for the thousands of devotees and visitors participating in the pilgrimage.
Addressing the issue of passable roads, the Public Works Department has been directed to ensure the roads in the region are well-maintained.
