Pathanamathitta: Central investigative agencies have initiated a probe into a major security lapse at Sabarimala. The Intelligence Bureau has dispatched a team to the location to gather information. The investigation is being conducted with the utmost confidentiality to prevent any information leaks.
The incident involves the theft of four 2G voice cards from a BSNL tower, and these cards have yet to be recovered. Officials have expressed concerns over the potential misuse of these stolen cards, including the creation of a parallel telephone exchange system. These revelations prompted the central agencies to launch an official inquiry.
This breach occurred recently at Sabarimala, where the cable leading to the BSNL tower was cut and stolen in Saramkuthi, resulting in significant equipment damage. Seven individuals have been arrested in connection with this incident, and it is estimated that BSNL has incurred losses amounting to four lakh rupees.
