Palakkad: Two village officials in Palakkad have been suspended in light of bribery allegations. The Palakkad District Collector has issued an order to suspend BM Kumar, the village field assistant of Tarur Village Office in Palakkad, and PU Farooq, the village assistant of Keralassery Village Office.
The suspension of BM Kumar came after his recent arrest by the Vigilance Department on charges of bribery. Kumar was apprehended after a resident of Kuruthithodu filed a complaint, alleging that he demanded a bribe in exchange for speeding up a property registration process.
In a separate incident, PU Farooq faced suspension due to his involvement in serious financial irregularities and inadequate performance of his official duties. It was discovered that Farooq had been engaging in irregular practices concerning tax payments and other government-related transactions within the village office.
