ERNAKULAM: Cochi City Police have registered the first case of review bombing. It is reported that the case was filed based on a complaint by Ubaini, the director of the movie ‘Rahel Makan Kora.’
The complaint alleges that some individuals are intentionally defaming the recently released movie, ‘Rahel Makan Kora,’ through social media. Ubaini stated that certain individuals used social media platforms like YouTube and Facebook to tarnish the movie’s reputation and resorted to using abusive language.
Kerala’s Police Chief informed that if there is a violation of the IT Act, the police can file a case. However, it is also mentioned that, in most cases, intentional negative reviews are published by fake IDs on social media created for this purpose.
Earlier Kerala High Court heard a petition filed by Mubeen Rouf, the director of movie ‘Aromalinte Aadhyathe Pranayam’ on negative reviewing and defaming through social media. Mubeen Rouf had filed a petition in the High Court seeking restrictions on negative reviews through social media, even without viewing the movie.
The High Court then criticized the act of potentially jeopardizing the hard work and financial investment in filmmaking
