Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Police has issued a reminder to the public regarding the use of the unified emergency number 112. This number, part of the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS), has now become the primary contact number for a wide range of emergency services, including police, fire- force, and ambulance.
Residents across the state are urged to dial 112 in times of crisis, and their calls will be directed to a centralised control room at the police headquarters. The police will gather crucial information and ensure that the necessary assistance is dispatched promptly.
The advantage of dialling 112 as an emergency number is that, whether it’s a fire emergency, a medical crisis, or the requirement of police assistance, this single number simplifies the process for the public, eliminating the need to remember multiple numbers for various services.
Note that the police services’ contact number has transitioned from the familiar 100 to the new 112.
