Kozhikode: Two young boys lost their lives in a boating accident. The deceased have been identified as Aadideva (17) and Aadi Krishna, both hailing from Edathumkara. The incident unfolded yesterday evening.

The incident occurred when the two young boys, along with their companion Abhimanyu (17), embarked on a fishing expedition in a fibre boat on the Mahi canal. However, their outing took a tragic turn when the boat overturned.

Aadideva and Aadi Krishna found themselves drowning in the water. Abhimanyu managed to swim to safety and alert local residents about the accident. The rescue operation, by the locals, was adversely impacted by the delay in receiving information from Abhimanyu.

After receiving the information, swift action was taken to locate and assist the two drowning youngsters. Locals were rushed to a nearby private hospital with the two youngsters, but despite the medical team’s best efforts, their lives could not be saved. The bodies of Aadideva and Aadi Krishna were subsequently moved to the Vadakara District Hospital Mortuary, where post-mortem examinations will be conducted. After this process, their remains will be returned to their families.
