Ernakulam, Kerala: The Union Home Ministry has called for a detailed report from the state regarding the recent explosion that occurred during a Jehovah’s Witnesses prayer meeting in Kalamassery. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) have taken charge of the investigation, and the Home Ministry has directed state police to examine the possibility of a terrorist attack.
The State Police Chief has issued a high alert to district police heads, and the ADGP responsible for law and order swiftly arrived at the scene. The blast site has been secured and sealed by the police. Additionally, the intelligence ADGP is en route to the location. The Chief Minister has emphasised the need to treat the incident with the utmost seriousness.
The incident resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries when a series of explosions occurred during a Jehovah’s Witnesses prayer meeting in the Kalamassery area of Kochi on Sunday morning. According to police reports, the initial explosion took place at approximately 9 a.m., followed by several subsequent blasts within the next hour. More than 2,000 individuals were in attendance at the prayer meeting when these explosions transpired.
