Kannur, India: Customs authorities at Kannur International Airport intercepted yet another case of gold smuggling. They confiscated a total of 1212 grams of gold worth Rs. 73.56 lakhs. The illicit gold was discovered in the possession of Alageshwara Rajendran, a resident of Tamil Nadu who had recently arrived at Kannur Airport from Sharjah.
This incident follows a similar gold seizure at Kannur Airport the previous day. Customs officials apprehended Abdul Rishad, a native of Kozhikode who had travelled from Riyadh, with 995 grams of gold worth Rs. 61 lakhs.
