THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Following the bomb blast at the Jehovah’s Witnesses Convention Center in Kalamassery, Kerala, today, a man surrendered himself to Thrissur’s Kodakara police station, claiming that he had placed the bomb at the convention center in Kochi.
The bomb blasts at the Kalamassery prayer convention center resulted in the death of one person and injuries to around 36 others. A team from the NIA is currently at the scene, and it is likely that the NIA will take over the investigation. The Union government has reportedly directed the NSG team to conduct its own investigation.
In this tragic situation, it has been reported that a man surrendered to Kodakara police station. Kodakara police took the man, who is from Kochi, for detailed interrogation in the presence of higher officials. Kodakara police have kept the man’s identity confidential. At the same time, the police also informed the media that they need to confirm whether he is suffering from any mental illness or intentionally misdirecting the investigation. Consequently, the police have not revealed any details for security concerns.
In another incident, Kannur police took a man into custody after finding suspicious items in his bag. The Jharkhand native was reportedly on his way to Areekode from Mangaluru. Police recovered some documents and pictures from his bag. After interrogation he was set free to go.
It is reported that the police interrogated him and took him into custody on suspicion. No further details have been revealed for security reasons. Meanwhile, the police have informed the public not to spread any fake news regarding this.
