MALAPPURAM: Tirurangadi police arrested two individuals in a honey trap case in Tirurangadi, Malappuram district, where money was extorted.
The arrested individuals are identified as Mubashira Jumaila, a native of Wayanad and a resident of Kottakal in Malappuram district, and her friend Arshad Babu, a native of Mukkam.
The arrests came after a 27-year-old resident of Peruvallur filed a complaint with Tirurangadi police. According to police records, Mubashira Jumaila is a former employee of the complainant’s firm. During her employment, she had a secret sexual encounter with the complainant, which resulted in her becoming pregnant. She later underwent an abortion.
Following this incident, Mubashira Jumaila began to blackmail the complainant, demanding Rs 15 lakh in exchange for not revealing the secret. The complainant had previously paid her Rs 50,000, but the blackmail persisted, leading to the complaint lodged at Tirurangadi police station.
It was found that Mubashira’s earlier claim of being a BDS student was false after her apprehension by the police.
