Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has modified its rain warnings for the state. The previously issued orange alerts in Ernakulam and Malappuram districts have now been withdrawn. Meanwhile, the IMD has introduced yellow alerts for Pathanamthitta, Idukki, and Palakkad districts.
The IMD further cautioned that heavy rains are anticipated in the upcoming days due to the presence of a cyclonic circulation over north Tamil Nadu and along the Kerala coast. According to IMD forecasts, this cyclonic circulation is expected to track northwestward and intensify over the next 24 hours, possibly leading to the formation of a depression over the Arabian Sea on November 8.
In response to these weather conditions, the prohibition on fishing activities remains along the coasts of Kerala, Karnataka, and Lakshadweep.
