Idukki: In a bid to enhance public safety and mitigate the risk of landslides, a temporary ban on overnight travel from Udumbanchola to Cheriyar has been imposed until further notice. The directive was issued by District Collector Sheeja. The travel restrictions along this route are effective from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. During these hours, travellers are encouraged to utilise alternative routes.
Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been declared for Idukki district, extending until Thursday. The District Collector has assured that all necessary emergency preparedness measures have been put in place and instructions have been relayed to key departments, including the police, fire force, and revenue authorities. In light of persistent rainfall, the public is urged to exercise caution and avoid nighttime travel in hilly areas.
