Thiruvananthapuram: In recent times, issues related to unauthorised changes in vehicle ownership have become increasingly prevalent. To address this concern, the Department of Motor Vehicles has found a solution, urging vehicle owners to link their mobile numbers with their RC book.
The initiative requires vehicle owners to add their Aadhaar-linked mobile numbers along with vehicle details on the PARIVAHAN website. This measure aims to thwart unauthorised changes in ownership and ensure that vehicle owners are informed when any modifications are made.
It is important for vehicle owners to update their mobile numbers to facilitate seamless transactions such as tax payments, registration renewals, and access to other services. The PARIVAHAN website has introduced a ‘mobile number update’ module to streamline this process, allowing individuals to complete the task online effortlessly.
However, in cases where there is a difference between the name and address details on the RC and Aadhaar, the online module may not be effective. In such situations, vehicle owners can utilise the ‘update mobile number done at RTO’ module. This involves uploading necessary documents, including an application on white paper, RC, and Aadhaar with the linked mobile number. This documentation can be submitted online to the nearby Regional Transport Office (RTO).
