Idukki: Landslide occurred in Idukki this morning, impacting the Nedumkandam-Kambam interstate highway. Continuous heavy rainfall over the past few days is believed to be the cause of the incident, resulting in disruptions to traffic in the region.
In response to the landslide, the Tamil Nadu Road Safety Authority has implemented a two-day ban on heavy vehicles along the affected highway. Furthermore, all goods vehicles are being rerouted through Kumali until the situation is deemed safe.
The landslide dumped soil and rocks on the highway, causing a lot of damage. The fire force from Tamil Nadu worked hard for about five hours to clear it, and now only small vehicles can use that part of the road.
