Kannur: A 47-year-old shop owner from Kaivelikkal was sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 for indecent behaviour towards a minor girl in Thalassery. The shop owner, Kaivelikkal native CK Saju (47) was given the sentence by Thalassery Fast-track Special Court Judge TT George. If Saju fails to pay the fine, he will have to undergo additional imprisonment for three months.
The incident occurred on July 5, 2018, when Saju behaved indecently with a 17-year-old girl who visited the shop to repair a bag. He kissed her on the cheek and behaved indecently.
Former Panoor SI K Santhosh led the investigation and submitted the charge sheet in the case. The Special Prosecutor, PM Bansuri, represented the prosecution during the trial proceedings.
