Kochi: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will inaugurate the new Income Tax Department building, ‘Aayakar Bhavan.’ The event is scheduled for 4 pm at the Gokulam Park Hotel & Convention Centre, Kochi.

Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) Chairman Nitin Gupta, CBDT Member Sanjay Kumar Verma, and Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Kerala, Sunil Mathur, will attend the inauguration ceremony.

As part of the event, the union minister will release the ‘Tax Deductors’ Guide 2023,’ providing a summary of Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) provisions in Malayalam. This will help taxpayers understand TDS provisions more easily and ensure proper compliance with such provisions.

Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will also engage with students from government schools, promoting scientific curiosity by distributing Chandrayaan models. This initiative aims to ignite an enthusiasm for science among the youth.

The ‘Aayakar Bhavan,’ constructed in Kochi at a project cost of Rs 64 crore, has a built-up area of 8,227 square metres and a carpet area of 4,469 square metres.
